Rhetorical Analysis Essay Example

Rhetorical Analysis

The following rhetorical analysis essay example of a narrative story demonstrates the writer’s ability to capture the interest of the readers while narrating an unforgettable experience. The short story is a good reading material for students because the reader is given a clear idea on the techniques used by excellent writers. A story about human experience does not have to be a long one to be interesting and have an impact on its reader.

An interesting plot that anyone can relate to

Author Joleen Chin in writing her short narrative “Working in the O.B. Clinic” has successfully grabbed the attention of her readers by starting with a jolly mood depicting her satisfaction and joy while working in an O.B. Clinic where babies are usually born to this world. She then proceeded with the story of hope, perseverance, and courage of one of the patients in the clinic that had an impact on her life while working in the clinic. The story is very short, consisting of no more than 500 words but it has succeeded in giving the readers a clear picture of the experience the author had with a patient who tried every possible option just to have a baby born to her. The short story is able to portray the hardships experienced by the patient and the successful reward she achieved at the end of her struggle. The great efforts personally made by the patient are familiar to everyone who wants to have children born to the family.

A Unique writing style

I chose this story for my rhetorical analysis essay example for the benefit of students who want to improve their writing abilities and those are thinking of starting a career in writing. The style of the writer in narrating her tale is very simple but effective. First, she describes the fulfilling environment pervading in the clinic and then proceeds by explaining the predicament of the woman who is one of their patients eager to procreate. When narrating the clinical situation of the lady in question, the author becomes very methodical and technical in her narration showing the depth of her knowledge in the medical field.

The last part of her narration tells the success of the patient in getting pregnant and subsequently delivering twin baby girls. The patient becomes the writer’s friend at the end of the story, a development that brings me or any reader back to a joyful mood after reading the upsetting hardships experienced by the patient. The successful way of bringing the reader through the different moods in the short story is a fine technique of keeping the reader interested in reading the story. This short tale written about life in an O.B. clinic shows that even short narratives can have a very profound effect on readers.
